DevTeach just announced a Boot Camp on Windows Phone 7 in 4 cities.

by Jean-Rene Roy 22. June 2010 23:00

This is a very good opportunity for .Net developers to get ahead of this wave,  and trust me, it will be a BIG wave. Just think of all the IPhone apps you can recreate for this new platform in a fraction of time it takes on the IPhone platform. Here is the Windows Phone 7 rebate code: WP7BOOTCAM - good for $100 off the 2-day boot camp. This rebate code has no time limit.

Colin Melia from DreamDigial is creating and presenting the material. When you leave this boot camp, you will have the knowledge and sample to build a Windows Phone 7 application. BTW, DevTeach is the first organization to provide a boot camp on Windows Phone 7 in Canada. Do not miss this chance.

XML in SQL Server, Why bother? The OttawaSQL.Net Talk

by Jean-Rene Roy 20. May 2010 22:50

Last week I was giving sessions about XML. I did it before at the Ottawa IT Day and the Toronto Code Camp. But this time I enhance it with some code simple that output XML that I was using back in year 2000. This example was interesting because 2000 was when this buzz work hit all developer like a brick. Now, to know what this is all about you need to be there. The good news is that all the code from this demo fest can be downloaded right here.  If you have questions call or email me

One more talk on the Sync. Framework...

by Jean-Rene Roy 25. March 2010 00:56

Yesterday I did again my talk about the MS Sync. Framework. This time it was the ODNC for the lunch presentation.  Attendees had very good questions and it shows the interest on this tools.  In fact I am using in production the Sync. Framework with the File Provider and it really fast.  Coding something like that will take me a long time before I get it right. If you do not know what is the MS Sync. Framework. Check it out at this link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/sync/default.aspx

Lunch talk about the Sync Framework at the OttawaCommunity.NET

by Jean-Rene Roy 11. March 2010 21:46

Yesterday I did again my talk about the Sync framework at the OttawaCommunity.NET.

At start we had small technical problem with the projector and we started 10 min. last. That is too bad because I did not get a chance to show one of the demos.  The attendees had very good questions about this free framework and I think I raise some interest in this product.  What amazes me when I present this talk is the fact that most attendees do not know what the SQL Server Compact Edition is. Anyway if you have been at this presentation, you can download the source code from a previous blog I did in 2009. See the link below.
